LGBT+ History Month: Wellbeing Fair, support services and getting involved

On Wednesday 15th February, the LGBT+ Wellbeing Fair took place in your SU as part of LGBT+ History Month. 

The Fair was organised by Student Representatives with the aim of promoting safe and fun LGBT+ spaces, experiences, activities and mental health support.

On Friday 24th February we’ll be hosting our second fair of the month which is the LGBT+ History and Rights Fair which will aim to share the experiences of inspirational icons, educate on LGBT+ rights around the world and spread awareness of the history of pride in Plymouth.

    The Transgender and Non-Binary Support Society (TANBS) aim to provide a safe and comfortable space for transgender, non-binary and gender questioning students, as well as allies to the community to meet and connect.

    The University of Plymouth’s Student Hub exists to help you get the most out of your time at University. The Hub can support with non-academic student queries and no issue is too big or too small for their friendly, confidential and impartial team.

  • UoP LGBT + Mental Health Wellbeing Group 
    This is a chance for all LGBTQ+ students, or those with initial questions about sexuality or gender identity, to gather online via Zoom and address some of the specific issues that are impacting on their wellbeing and to feel heard.

  • Queer District Collective 
    QDC’s mission is to develop Bretonside as Plymouth’s Queer District, with the aim of creating a sober LGBTQ+ hub for both the queer community and its heritage.

    An independent LGBT bookshop based in Plymouth.

  • Not Alone Plymouth 
    Not Alone provides support and advice for transgender and non-binary people in Plymouth. It has been set up to provide a safe place for sharing thoughts and feelings for those who need it.

    A Community Trust that unites people to celebrate, promote and support the diversity that exists in the LGBTQ+ communities in Plymouth.

    The LGBT+ Society is dedicated to not only supporting and representing University of Plymouth students who are part of the LGBT+ community, but to empower them to be themselves, and to be proud.

    The Plymouth Feminist society is a student-led collective of diverse feminists dedicated to the liberation of women and misogyny-affected people. The society welcomes all, regardless of gender, sex, race or political leaning and are trans-inclusive and sex worker inclusive.

    A transgender and non-binary support group in Cornwall which aims to build confidence and wellbeing through coming together to provide guidance.

    Spectrum is Devon’s first choir for LGBT+ people and their friends who enjoy singing. They are an inclusive community choir and the aim is to have fun together, to sing uplifting songs and to build and celebrate our community.

  • Gay Outdoor Club Devon
    The Gay Outdoor Club is for everyone in the LGBTQI+ community who want to enjoy outdoor activities. The Devon Group generally walks once or twice per month and arrange a programme of social events throughout the year.
