The University of Plymouth Pole Dance Club (UPPDC) welcomes everyone, regardless of gender, body type, strength, or flexibility. Pole dance is a sport for all, no experience needed! Whether you’re drawn to graceful movement or love showing off your strength, there’s something for you here. Join us for a session and discover a fun, empowering way to build confidence, fitness, and community.
With three stage poles, we run free weekly practice sessions right on campus, perfect for refining skills or just having fun with friends.
We are also partnered with two fantastic local studios — Twisted Sisters and The Art of Dance — to offer an even wider range of classes. Whether you’re into strength and stretch, stripper style, or mixed ability sessions, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy. Discounts are available for all of our members.
Socials
We host weekly socials that alternate between sober and drinking events, offering something for everyone. From club nights, pub trips, and karaoke to pottery painting, bowling, and more — there’s always something fun on the calendar.
We also team up with other societies for joint socials, giving you the chance to meet new people and experience the full social side of University life. Come make amazing memories and lifelong friends with us!
Events
Each year, we take part in Inter University Pole Competitions and in 2026, we were proud to host the biggest one in the Southwest: South West Pole Varsity!
The competition features categories for all levels, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Group routines so there’s something for everyone. Auditions open in October, and we’d love to see you give it a go!
We also run two showcases each year, one in winter and one in summer, giving you the chance to choreograph your own routine and shine on stage in a fun, supportive environment. If you're not into performing, you can still come along and support your fellow members and bring friends too. All proceeds go to a chosen charity.
