On Friday 26th April 2024, the University of Plymouth Pole Dance Club completed a 12 hour pole dancing performace on the SU stage, whilst also hosting a bake sale to help raise awareness for their upcoming Summer Showcase and raise money for their studio.

Fourteen members took part in this event, braving the cold and wet weather (for not much more than the challenge of it), and five dedicated committee members were around throughout the whole 12 hours, managing to keep the energy and members alive!

Alongside the 12 hour "Pole-A-Thon" was a bake sale, in which the Pole Dance Club raised triple digits – all of which will be donated to their beloved studio The Art of Dance in Mutley.

At the sale, the club handed out leaflets to their Summer Showcase (Friday 3rd of May), in which they promised to do better tricks than they were able to show due to the cold conditions of the day. Nevertheless, the public were in awe!

"Worn throughout the day was a range of pole kit, sportswear, pleasers (very high heels), oodies, blankets, hats and gloves, and tracksuits with multiple coats… Some members were much braver than others. Those members became ill over the weekend. Bring on next time!" - Pole Dance

Pole-A-Thon was a challenge but one I would happily do again. I was so lovely to see everyone come together to complete our 12 hours. The atmosphere was amazing and it was lovely speaking to other students about pole dancing. - Emma

"The studio and community has completely changed the lives of hundreds of people over its years, and will continue to impact so many more! We are thankful for everyone at the studio, and can't help ourselves from wanting to give back." - Pole Dance.
