University of Plymouth Lacrosse club is one of the fastest growing clubs. We welcome all abilities and most of our freshers have never played the sport before so do not be afraid. Founded in 2008 we are entering our eleventh year as a club and tenth as a competitive force in the British Universities and College Sport leagues. We currently offer four teams which enable us to cater for all levels of ability; Men’s 1st team - Will be competing in BUCS Western 1A league. BUCS National Championships and regional tournaments. SEMLA/Men's 2nd team – Will be competing in SEMLA South West division 1 and Peninsula 1 local league. Alongside this, members will have local friendly games and regional tournaments with regional universities. Ladies 1st team – Competing in the BUCS Western 2A league, South West Tournament League and entering Nationals. Ladies 2nd Team- Regional tournaments and friendly games with other universities such as UWE, Cardiff and Falmouth. Our Men’s teams play on Wednesdays and train on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. SEMLA (South East Men's Lacrosse Association) matches take place on a Saturday. There will also be Men's Fresher training on Wednesdays and Saturdays as an introduction to the sport, quickly getting integrated into the Monday and Thursday sessions. Our Ladies teams train on Mondays and Saturdays, playing BUCS matches on Wednesdays (training on Wednesdays when there is no match). Ladies freshers trainings are on Thursdays, with Wednesdays and Saturdays all girls training together. There will also be regular local friendlies for the 2nd team to give girls an opportunity to improve skills and learn more about the game.
Players of all abilities are welcome. Beginners are given assistance at trainings by experienced players. For more information on training please contact your 2019/2020 captains (Please read below).
UPLAX meet up every Wednesday night for our weekly socials; usually starting at a lacrosse members house and then progressing on to Switch, BacBar and finally ending up in Walkabout. Most socials have a theme and all members of the club, regardless of whether they play or just like to socialise, are welcome to come. We have introductory socials at the start of the year to introduce new members to the club and all other members. For more information on socials contact your Men's Social Secretary Rhys Sandwell and your Ladies Social Secretary Amelia Hewitson.
We run a spring tour with the ILOVETOUR tour company previously going to Spain and Croatia. Over the summer, we attend Bluesfest, a weekend lacrosse festival bringing a men's and woman's team with us. Over the past successive years, it has been great fun, with the chance to meet lacrosse teams from across the country. We have a huge Christmas party and dinner to end the first term, hiring out a venue which leads to an amazing night out. At the end of the year, we host an Awards Night as a final goodbye to our third year members. We have a strong focus on supporting both national and local charities through many fundraising events such as charity tournaments and pub quizzes. We take on many volunteering roles throughout the year and compete in intermural tournaments thus helping us to intergrate with other sports clubs.
