From Wednesday 2nd December England will move from a national lockdown into the tier system, of which Plymouth is currently in Tier 2.

During the national lockdown, in line with restrictions introduced by the Government, many of our services were either adapted and moved online or were temporarily closed.

With the introduction of the student travel window (Thursday 3rd – Wednesday 9th December), in which the Government has asked all students to return to their out of term-time address to minimise the risk of transmission, our priority is enabling those students who are travelling to a different address to do so during the allocated travel window.

As such, a number of our services will remain closed to avoid the risk of transmission prior to those students returning to their out of term-time addresses.

The following SU services will remain closed until 2021 and we’ll provide you with more information on their opening dates in the new year:

  • SU Building
  • SU Bar
  • SU Shop (orders for our online shop close on Friday 11th December)
  • SU Costa Coffee Shop

In addition, all student group face-to-face or physical activity will remain ceased for the remainder of 2020 which was communicated to student groups in November. View the full statement here.

We are, however, delighted to announce that from Thursday 3rd December the UPSU Gym will reopen, you can read more here. This will enable our members to make the most of the physical, emotional and mental health benefits of working out and keeping active and we can’t wait to welcome you back.

You can still access the following SU services through digital platforms:

We’ll shortly be sharing our opening hours over the festive period and the winter break for those of you who are remaining on campus or need to access support during this time.
