When you join the University of Plymouth, not only are you enrolling as a student, but you also become part of the University of Plymouth Students’ Union community.

Students are welcome to attend as many of our weekly evening events throughout the academic year at the SU, including Jam House Thursdays: an open mic night where students can perform and showcase their musical talent to the student community alongside local artists and bands who regularly perform.

Karaoke Wednesdays and Sunday Big Quiz Nights are also popular weekly events where students come together to socialise, have a drink, and switch off from academic work.

And on Friday and Saturday nights, the SU transforms into a lively student nightclub where much of our community choose to spend their weekend nights out. Hullaballoo Fridays and Throwback Saturdays offer students a safe space to have fun with themed nights, DJs, professional photographers, and drinks at student-friendly prices.

Buying tickets to our events:

We strongly encourage students to purchase tickets online prior to attending any of ticketed weekly events (Hullaballoo Friday and Throwback Saturday).

Our weekend nightclub events are very popular with the student community and often our venue will reach full capacity, meaning we have to turn away students at the door who don’t have pre-paid tickets.

For guaranteed entry to our ticketed events, please make sure you purchase your tickets online prior to showing up! On the door tickets may be available, but we cannot guarantee it, and we would hate to turn you away.

Plus, buying your tickets online in advance is cheaper! In fact, online tickets are half the price compared to when you buy your tickets on the door.

Online tickets are just £2! Tickets on the door are £4.

Another benefit of buying your tickets online is that you get to jump the queue! When you have an online ticket you don’t need to wait around and queue to buy tickets, all you need to do is show us your e-ticket and then you can head straight in and start enjoying your night.

Remember, you can bring a non-student guest to our events!

As a University of Plymouth student, you can buy up to two tickets online for each event, and one of these ticket holders can be a guest who does not go to the University. You will need to attend the event with your guest, and you will need to have your student and age ID, and your friend will need their age ID to enter.

Please remember to bring your student ID and age ID.

Our events are 18+, and we have the right to refuse entry to our events if you do not have your student ID and proof of age ID.

Please read all our venue and nightclub entry terms here.

Please drink responsibly and stay safe.

We offer a wonderfully diverse and vibrant nightlife that much of our student community enjoy during their time at university. Whilst we want you to have fun and take advantage of everything Plymouth has to offer, including getting involved in social activities with friends, above everything we want you to stay safe.

Please read our latest safety advice on our website to ensure you have the best night possible whilst staying as safe as possible.

We work closely with local police to ensure that our campus and surrounding area is as safe as possible for our students. We have a number of safety measures, schemes and services which are in place to help keep you safe on nights out at the SU.

Please familiarise yourself with our important policies and safety services: you never know when you or a friend may need our help.
