Following the events in Keyham which unfortunately took place in August 2021, the University of Plymouth Clay Pigeon Shooting Club wanted to do a lot more to emphasise the safety aspect to make sure they were doing all they could and to provide a better experience for members.

In December, 3 of their members completed the BASC Safety Officer training which they passed with ‘Flying colours’. This helps them to be more aware of their surroundings when on the clay ground and teaches them to manage any issues that may arise. The club would like to say congratulations to Chaz, Julia and Shayne.

On the 23rd of February, 11 of their members completed their Safe Shot Practical Assessment. This shows that they can safely handle a gun while on clay grounds without supervision. It has been great to see the members progress in such a short space of time.

Finally this week the club have been recognised in the BASC magazine for the work that they have been completing with them to develop their safety training program further. Congratulations to everyone involved at the Shooting Club.
