Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Andile Chiwuta and I will be running to become your Sport VP. As a final year, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineering student, on course to graduate – I write to declare why and how I can be the most effective Sport VP for all Plymouth University students. Experience as Chair of the Men’s Basketball Club, and Secretary, indicates my motivation and diligence as an active student to get involved with a small part of our Uni’s sporting community. Now imagine the influence I can have as a fully focussed Sport VP for the entire sporting institution.
The availability of more casual sporting sessions can serve to satisfy those playing for sociable reasons, those playing to improve or sustain fitness, or those playing to try something new. I believe there is a lack of provision for the casual player, and I aim to work with the sports clubs to add greater variety to the “Give it a GO” initiative.
I further aim to lead Plymouth Uni’s sporting community into one which promotes greater inclusivity, appealing to everyone regardless of ability, gender or background. I will be looking to work alongside the BUCS committee and local league, to find a way to bridge the gap between the two. Further promoting a positive sporting culture, one we know has the ability to inspire togetherness, improvement of relationships and ultimately health
