Hi, I’m George and I will be running to represent you as VP Sport next year. I’ve enjoyed 3 years of sport with Plymouth Uni, playing in a number of clubs, having the opportunity to get involved in BUCS competitions, and the intra-mural leagues and tournaments that we all love. I settled in as part of the Volleyball Club and currently represent them as the Social Secretary. Alongside sport, I use my spare time to do a degree in Civil Engineering.
I have cherished my time playing sport at Uni, and this has given me some of the best years of my life. But I do deeply believe our SU can make changes to improve this experience and I would love to bring a fresh perspective to help implement the changes you are looking for. If elected I have a number of areas in which I hope to effect aside my key criteria, such as;
- Increase opportunities for clubs to earn extra funding and rewards through volunteering and high achievements.
- Look for a fresh approach to team kit, aiming to simplify the order process and reduce delivery times.
- Develop smoother hand over transitions between committees aiming to better inform new committees.
- Boost general participation in a wider range of sports.
- Raise the profile of sport within the university and encourage support at matches.
- Collect more in-depth funding applications as to better prioritize funding.
- Revamp Wednesday night sports socials.
