Hi, I’m Alex Doyle and I'm running as your next VP Activities!
I’ve come to realise through my fulfilled roles that I have a perfect skill-set for the part as your next VP Activities! My experiences include working as an Enrichment Assistant, Photographer, Student Experience & Internal Marketing Intern, Resident Assistant, BussinessSoc President and Promotions officer of PulseSoc. It is within these experiences I feel I’ve gathered the knowledge to propose the following ideas:
Sponsorships help and guidance
I aim to create strong sponsorship guidelines for our clubs to use, providing example contract templates and advice sessions for clubs and societies wishing to gain external funding. I also want to ensure they are not taken advantage of by other organisations through always being on hand for support and advise.
Fight post-fresher’s joiner’s jitters
It’s evident that students are less likely to join a club once the initial fresher’s period is over. I hope to contest this by enhancing the promotion of clubs, recruitment drives and influence societies to get more involved in the SU ‘Give it a go’ scheme.
Showcasing
Having sat on the SEIM (Student Experience and Internal Marketing) committee board as a student representative, I found that many students are unfamiliar with the extra-curricular activities we offer. This means that our clubs and volunteering department are unexplored. I want to change that! I hope to battle this whilst helping to grow SU:Media by using them to showcase exactly what each sport club and society have to offer.
