Having been your President for 8 months, if re-elected you can count on me to keep every promise. I know the role, I know how to achieve my manifesto and I’ve kept the promises I made last year.
My pledges this year are:
- President’s Picnic: I will host ‘Have Your Say’ sessions (with food, obviously) where you can express what changes you’d like to see and hold me to account. Other ways I will strengthen our democracy include expanding the Union Council, empowering part-time officers, and creating an online area for all students to get involved with council decisions and motions.
- Graduate on the Hoe: I will redo the Students as Partners policy with the university to give students a louder voice on all matters. There are big decisions ahead including graduation, so I will ensure that students are always consulted and a representative is at the forefront of all decisions.
- Help not Hate: I will run a safety, wellbeing and health campaign around drugs, ensuring that if/when advice is needed, it’s easily accessed and supports students without punishing or judging. I want a confidential service on campus for drug-related advice and drug testing kits: the welfare of students is more important than anything else.
Furthermore, I will get rid of the card charge at UPSU outlets and continue to advocate for equal opportunities on campus.
A vote for me is a vote for a year of experience, passion for change, and student voice!
