ROSE FANNING

Hello, I’m Rose and I’m a MA Education student at Plymouth University as well as Welfare Forum Chair. I have been at Plymouth for nearly 5 years and have watched it grow significantly however I still believe there is more to be done.

Equal Platforms

I believe that we need to provide a platform for each individual to have opportunity to move our university forward. I would like to create and increase the amount of safe spaces across our campus so that each student feels safe and valued regardless of gender, sexuality, race, age e.t.c.

Consistent Awareness

Students can go through years of university without knowing the help and facilities available, further hindered by the lack of consistency from one faculty to the other. I propose that discussions about Pastoral Care are made mandatory within each faculty so that students can act upon information if the needed. I would also like Sports and Societies to undergo Welfare training so they can inform members of the services and create a positive culture.

Reduced Strain on Services

Health services are ongoing issues across our campus with students on long waiting lists for counselling and other support. I want to promote the use of outside services, and work with Sports; Societies and Forums to provide students with tips and training to increase their Health. From exercises, medical and mental health services, as well as ways to eat healthy on a budget I want students to understand the importance of self-wellbeing.
