What motivated you to run for a Sabbatical Officer role and why do you think you would be a good Sabbatical Officer?
When I first saw the advert, I was captivated about the position and thought to myself to apply for this position since I have a good communication skills. This require me to talk to range of students, stakeholders, staff and external organizations. I have good collaboration to build relationships with students, other leaders and groups to achieve shared goals, then passion for student issues as an international student I have a deep understanding of issues we face, and student need.
Why is the Sabbatical Officer role important?
The Sabbatical Officer role is a crucial position within a student union. It is responsible for representing and advocating for the interests of the student body. As a student leader, a Sabbatical Officer, I will have the opportunity to make significant changes that can benefit the entire student community. Leadership will create equitable and supportive environment for all students, and positive change.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Intelligent, compassionate, and reliable.
If you could change one thing about the University, what would that be?
The potential change will be made to provide more opportunities for experiential learning which are internships, cooperative programs, and research opportunities that allow students to apply their knowledge and gain practical experience in their field of study.
If you could change one thing about the Students' Union, what would it be?
The important change to improve the student union will be in the area of its transparency and accessibility to the student body, whereby frequent communication about its activities, decision-making processes, and financial statements, as well as more opportunities for students to provide feedback and be involved in the union's decision-making will be concerned.
Who do you draw most inspiration from and why?
Inspiration is subjective, and it maybe from different sources. As for me, I draw inspiration from people who have overcome significant challenges or achieved great success in their personal or professional lives.
What is your proudest moment so far and why?
I take the time to reflect on my accomplishments and acknowledge my hard work and achievements, as this can help me build self-confidence and motivation to continue striving towards my goals. Therefore, my proudest moment is overcoming a personal challenge or obstacle.
