Hi! I’m Tyler, I’m going into my second year of Events Management and I am your current VP events!
Although I am a new member of RAG and haven’t been in the role for long, I have learnt many skills such as leadership, organisational skills and have been able to start building good relationships with the RAG team, the SU team and am keen to learn even more whilst doing this role.
Feedback from some team members have said that I am:
- Approachable
- Easy to get on with
- Eager to learn
- Good with communication and
- Good at motivating people.
I also feel that I am very supportive of ideas and suggestions and will help to bring those ideas to life.
Soon, I’ll be running the Pizza Eating event which is the first event that I will manage since being in this role. I have confidence that this event and many more to come will be successful, not only because of the skills that I have and the rapport that I have built with the team, but because of good leadership, planning and organisation. As most of you may already know, I am very open and honest and not afraid to ask questions to get events completed to a good standard and I am not afraid to ask for help as this is a team effort.
If I can continue my role as VP Events next year, I want to:
- Improve the communication between the two sides of RAG and bring together the Adventures and Events so we can work effectively. This can be done by introducing both alcohol and sober socials so that all members of RAG can communicate and get to know one another.
- Give the opportunity for members of the events committee to run their own event throughout the year to encourage their creativity and give them a chance so showcase their ideas and put them into practise. This will let them build relationships with the SU and other members of staff, can help them feel valued in RAG and can boost confidence and improve many other skills.
