Volleyball is one of the friendliest and most social clubs at the University and there is a good balance between amateur and advanced players. No matter what your background is, these training sessions are encouraging and competitive in which the members have said they really enjoy the sessions. There will be a fine balance between competitive training and social training. The club holds matches in a local league so there are competitive games in which there is a mens first team in the BUCS leagues and a womens first BUCS league which have just been promoted this season. The club has hired a coach to make sure members are always learning and improving. There are also opportunities to learn how to be a coach or a referee through being a member of this club.
Wednesday-Pitts gym: 5-6pm
Friday- Nancy Astor sports centre: 5-7pm
(There is also a give it a go session every monday 6-7pm run by the SU at nancy astor at the cost of £3.50 a session.)
We hold weekly socials at Q, Switch and Pryzm where we can provide queue jump tickets so students can have the full university experience. We have different socials throughout the year including white t-shirt, costume socials, mixed club socials and many more. Besides drinking socials, the club holds social events like heading out to the beach for some beach volleyball and camping, or just local bowling socials.
The club will be completing in BUCS, Varsity, local leagues, south west champs and EDVA throughout the year. Besides competitive events, the club will hosts different fun events and amatuer volleyball competitions for players who do not want to pursue volleyball competitively but socially. There will be a glow in the dark volleyball session in the year and there are opportunities to go to volleyball events around the country, such as beach volleyball etc!
