In years gone by, University of Plymouth Trampolining and Gymnastics Club (UPTGC) has mainly focused on the trampoline side of things. However, this year we have arranged more opportunity to use world class facilities for both gymnastics and trampolining. We work alongside City of Plymouth Trampoline Club and Plymouth Swallows Gymnastics Club to ensure that our members get the most out of their sessions.
Every Wednesday at 2:00pm- 3:30pm, we have access to Plymouth Swallows Gymnastics Club at no extra cost for UPTGC members! This is a casual session, so is entirely up to the individual whether they want to learn new skills, swing on the bars or just have fun and jump into a pit!
Trampolining training at City of Plymouth Trampoline Club is designed to improve the abilities of all of UPTGCs members. From those who have never bounced before, to those who are combining twists and somersaults. We train on Mondays and Thursdays 8pm-10pm.
We have regular social events, alternating between drinking and non-drinking socials. Themes, times, and venues vary so make sure that you check out our social media pages to keep up to date! One of our favourite post training activities is to indulge in vast amount of food at Goodbodies and Caffeine club!
We are affiliated with the Southern Universities Trampoline League (SUTL) and compete at all five competitions throughout the academic year. Don’t be intimidated by the thought of competing, there are 7 different levels that start with a routine with no somersaults at all, right the way up to routines consisting of multi-twisting somersaults. SUTL events are a great way to meet people from other universities that share a similar interest to you and are a great way to travel and visit other universities in the south. Even if you are still put off by the competing, SUTL socials are above and beyond any night out in Plymouth! These competitions allow you to socialise with a range of different universities, and explore cities and towns that you have never visited before.
Every year we compete in the BUCS Championships. With BUCS points up for grabs, universities from all over the UK come have a bounce. It is a truly inspiring event, being able to watch those of international standard (including a few Olympians in the making!)
The Irish Student Trampoline Open (ISTO) is a chance to come on tour with us to Ireland and compete in an international event! In between the drinking, there is the opportunity to compete against universities from across the globe in Individual Trampolining, Synchronised Trampolining, Double-Mini trampolining, and Tumbling! This is an event that you don’t want to miss!
