Welcome!!
Our club is all about bringing sports together, whether you are a competitive swimmer, recreational swimmer, water polo player or even an artistic swimmer, this is the club for you. Our club takes part in many competitions throughout the academic year including BUCS, Varsity and club fun galas.
UPSASWP welcomes any ability, as a minimum we ask that you have the ability to swim 25m unaided, but apart from that, any skills you want to learn, whether it be artistic swimming, swimming or waterpolo, you can learn with us!
Due to our club being 3 sports clubs in one, by buying our membership, you can participate in as many or as few of the sessions as you want, so even if you have bought the memebrship with the anticipation of just joining the swimming club, you have the freedom to participate in the other 2 sports as well!

Training details:
Swimming: Mondays 20:00 - 21:00 (rec), 21:00 - 22:00 (comp) and Thursdays 20:30 - 22:00 (both)
Artistic Swimming: Sunday 19:00 - 21:00
Water polo: Wednesday 14:00 - 15:30, Friday 20:00 - 22:00 and Sunday 15:00 - 17:00

Socials
We like to carry out regular socials (normally with a theme), once every week on Wednesdays. Some weeks for special occassionas socials may be held on a Saturday night, particularly if celebrating a big win, such as BUSL or Varsity! Our social secretaries work very hard to make these as fun as possible! Details of socials will be posted as events on our Discord, so make sure you follow that to keep up to date! We also hold sober socials, as well as having a family system in the club - we think socials are the best way of getting to know everyone so make sure you come along!
Events
Swimmers who love a bit of fun competition or any members who like socialising, we will be taking part in Short Course BUCS and the BUSL league. Our captains will also be organising in-club galas, as well as friendlies with other local universities so there will still be a chance to compete!
Artistic Swimming will be competing in a competition up in Nottingham in February, with their annual showcase taking place in April.
Water polo teams take part in BUCS competitions throughout the year. If you want details or have questions about competitive water polo, speak to the captains at the sports fair or message us on the instagram pages.
Water polo and Swimming will compete in Varsity, a competition between the University of Plymouth and Plymouth Marjon. We won both of our events last year, and even if you're not taking part, please come along to support and celebrate after! We are hoping that this year we will get the Artistic Swimming team for a half-time show during the Water polo match!
As a club, we look to carry out as many charity fundraising events as possible. We support both local and national campaigns yearly, such as Diabetes UK, Movember and the Derriford Shoe Box campaign. Members will have a chance to get involved with smaller fundraising events like bake sales and charity fun galas, as well as bigger events such as the Plymouth half marathon. We welcome any fun fundraising ideas for the year ahead.
