Plymouth Blitz invites you to join the family! Our team is open to players of all abilities and ages, whether American Football is new to you or you've played before. One of the best aspects of American Football is that there are positions for people of all body types and athletic abilities; so you can play to your strengths! We understand that a lot of people won't have played American Football before. That's why we train everyone from the ground up, meaning that everyone starts the season at the same level, giving everyone the opportunity of game time.
Blitz always competes. Whether it be in training or on game-day, we always bring 100%. In the last few years, several of our players have earned to privilege of being invited to play for teams across Europe, including teams in Sweden, Finland and Germany over the summer. We have training at twice during the week, and on a Sunday (unless we have game). All training sessions are run by qualified coaches who are both willing and able to coach you to reach your football potential!
We have weekly socials on Wednesday nights. These socials are often with other societies to add some extra fun, and usually have a theme! These are great opportunities to take a break from the stresses of uni life; bond with your teammates and get to know other clubs!
Aside from Wednesday socials, the team often likes to get together on Sundays at Roundabout to watch the NFL. This is great for bettering our knowledge of the sport as well as bonding as a unit!
We have 6 regular season games against our Divison 2 opponents (Swansea Titans, Bath Spa Bulldogs, UWE Bullets 2, Gloucester Gladiators and Aberystwyth Tarannau) and then potentially more games if we make playoffs. Finally, after the end of the season, we welcome back our alumni for our Old Boys charity match.
IronFest is an annual event held by our sponsor, McCaulay's gym. This is a great night with lots of hype where the team encourages and helps each other and works on hitting PBs.
Membership costs £90 a term which can be purchased on the our SU page. This covers the cost of equipment (helmet, pads & lowers), training facilities, first aid equipment as well as pitch hire, and transport to away games. We also have designated positional coaches who join us at every training session and game, who support the development of each and every player.
