We welcome members of all abilities and experience but do expect you to bring your own photographic device, anything from a mobile phone to an SLR!
We charge £7.50 for the year's membership and aim to meet once every fortnight (2 weeks) for a different photography event, workshop or social
Once you have paid for a membership, make sure you join the Members' Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/upphotosoc1920/?source_id=306401209537828
We aim to hold fortnightly socials and meet ups ranging from day trips to local areas of photographic interest to nights out with photographic scavenger hunts. We are always open to new ideas and are really excited to have new members suggest different things! We are in the process of talking to other societies about holding joint meet ups where you can meet members from other societies and learn more about the student networks available here at Plymouth University!
Our informative events range from city and harbour walks, to trips to the Eden Project where we'll be teaching you the appropriate settings, composition and exposure for your shots. We aim to have one big trip per semester with smaller trips spread out throughout the fortnightly activities. When we're not out taking pictures, we also have monthly themed photography competitions so we are always encouraging our members to go out and take photos! Previously, our members have covered events put on by other societies who were looking for photographers, for example, a concert by the Swing Band, a Christmas showcase by the Choir and work for the Musical Theatre Group and Amateur Dramatics society. This year we hope to get even more involved with other societies and give our members as much exposure as possible!
We will be holding themed competitions once a month! The competitions will run on the Member's Facebook group ONLY and will be fairly voted amongst the members.
Once you have purchased your membership you can join our group at:
This is where we will keep members up to date about workshops, trips, other events and competitions.
