Welcome!

Welcome to Plymouth Ukulele Society. Whether you are a seasoned Ukulele Pro or are looking to learn an instrument for the first time, this is the society for you. We are mixed ability group teaching everything from absolute beginners to fingerpicking techniques and instrumentals. Besides the teaching, we also run weekly jam sessions to relax and practise playing as a group.

Times

We meet weekly on Wednesdays in Rolle 106 at 7 until 9pm. The first hour is teaching, where the group will (usually) be split between advanced, intermediate and beginner sessions. After the lesson, we jam.

All of these classes will also be broadcasted directly through our Facebook members page, so if you don't feel safe or our sessions are fully booked up, you won't miss out on anything.

Socials

We wouldn’t be a University society without socials. We have two socials per month, one drinking and one non-drinking. As a taste of what is coming up this year we have our traditional Hawaiian social: You had me at Aloha!, our Valentine’s Day Lonely Hearts' Quiz and Shrek Spectacular. And we'll close out the year with our Annual Spoonies Awards Night! You can find a list of what's to come for this term at the bottom of our page :)

Performances

As a society we're dedicated to giving you opportunities to show off your ukulele abilities to the people of Plymouth (whether they like it or not). This year we want to participate in in-person (and totally optional) gigs, such as the video below we made for Pride that we did last year. We think gigs are a fantastic experience and only enhance your abilties as performers. In the past we've performed at the Societies Awards Evening, Plymouth's own National Marine Aquarium and the Dance Society Winter Showcase. If we get the go ahead, we're excited to perform at those too!

If you are interested in seeing what we do come along. We run a Give it a go session on the first Wednesday of each month to try before you buy, so why not come along? We have GIAG session on the first Wednesday of every month in Rolle 119.
