At People and Planet (P&P) we actively campaign and raise awareness on campus and across Plymouth about environmental as well as social issues and global matters. The generic People & Planet motto is:
"Student action on World Poverty and the Environment"
People and Planet is the largest British student campaign network. In 2015 we in Plymouth became the 60th P&P University society in the UK, and Plymouth Uni became Number 1 of the Green League board! Everyone is welcome at our meetings, whether you just want to sit and listen or get up and share your views.
In the last academic year, we got the SU to ban plastic straws!! Additionally we have been focussing on our goal ensure Plymouth University NEVER invests in Fossil Fuels! #FossilFreePlymUni.
We have now started working on the sweatshop free campaign which will be our main focus this year.

But that's not all! Moreover we have an allotment where we can and will let out our green thumbs and souls. Join those sessions if you enjoy gardening and hopefully we will harvest some fruit and veg and flowers by the end of the year. :D
We support the organisation Students and Refugees Together (START). Amongst other things we have participated in the English conversation club that goes along with the bi-weekly cultural kitchen hosted by START, in solidarity with refugees that are new to Plymouth.
Throughout the year we will also have many socials. This includes tie-dye events, movie nights, Pub Quiz, mights out, sunday lunch socials and others!
We will be engaging with different groups throughout Plymouth to support local causes and volunteer work, such as attending Plymouth Environmental Action (PEA) events, beach cleans, the Environmental
and Sustainability forum, and much more! P&P as well provide workshops to fine tune our activism and engagement skills, specialist talks, trainings and regional events to meet and network with other student activists.
As you see, we have a diversity of activities for you all to join in, try something new and meet lovely people. If this sounds good to you, we would love to see you at our events!
Our next event is the Sweatshop free campaign workshop!
It takes place on Thursday 4th October 2018, 6pm in Babbage, room 416
Come along to meet us and to learn more about our new campaign!
You will get the chance to bring in your own ideas and help shaping the sweatshopfree camopaign at Plymouth University.
