Nursing Society

Welcome to the Nursing Society at the University of Plymouth!

About Us

We are a student-led group working to support, celebrate, and connect our cohorts of wonderful nursing students at the University of Plymouth. We aim to enrich the lives of our peers by giving them the opportunity to let their hair down away from the academic side of our degrees.

We will be hosting many different events throughout the year aiming to provide something for everyone whether that’s a quiet and relaxed night or a night out exploring some of the Plymouth night life.

We are open to all students at the University of Plymouth but naturally, the majority of our NurSoc community study Nursing. If you study Nursing (or don’t) and want to come along for our socials, a membership with us will get you access to discounted prices for some of our ticketed events and access to our free members-only events.

Of course, there is more to NurSoc than just socials, we offer the opportunity to connect with people across all cohorts, build your confidence, and get involved in a society that understands what it is like to be a healthcare student.

About our Committee

Jessica Gowling – Chair

Year 3 MNurs (Adult and Child) Student

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica, and I am going to be your chair for this academic year. I was a secretary last year, so we’re ready to hit the ground running this year. Outside of NurSoc, I love baking, going on adventures, and getting stuck into a good book or series. I can’t wait to meet you all, and have an amazing year!

Oscar Stone – Vice Chair and Secretary

Year 3 MNurs (Adult and Child) Student

Hi everyone, my name’s Oscar and I am going to be your secretary and vice chair for 2026/27. Having been treasurer last year, I am really looking forward to continuing working with NurSoc. Outside of uni, I enjoy cooking, playing games and getting stuck into a good TV show. I can’t wait to work with members old and new this year!

Jack Buss – Treasurer

Year 2 BSc (Child) Student

My name is Jack, and I'm a second-year child nursing student. I was a member of NurSoc last year and thought it would be a good experience to become a part of the committee to help new members have the same amount of fun as I did!

Lucy Armstrong – Health and Safety Officer

Year 3 BSc (Child) Student

My name is Lucy (everyone calls me Lu) and I’m studying children’s nursing . I was on the committee as health and safety officer last year & am very happy that I will be continuing my role again. I initially wanted to be on the committee to get more involved, meet new people, and help make a positive difference for everyone on the course and I hope that I am able to continue in this academic year.

Let’s come together and make this another fab year for NurSoc full of fun and happy memories!
