The society offer a variety of oppurtunities for our members to socialise with like-minded people and enhance their knowledge. Last year we hosted themed socials, documentary and film screenings, academic talks, beach cleans, rockpooling sessions, camping trips, photography competitions, pub quizzes, dissertation introductions, placement opportunity talks, and many more events. Two of our annual highlights are the Winter Ball at the National Marine Aquarium, and our Summer boat party!
This year we are again working with the Marine Biological Association of the UK, and are therefore offering two membership options:
1) £7 Society membership
Gets you membership to the Marine Biology Society, allowing you to attend all open and member only events and discount tickets to our Winter Ball and Summer Boat Party, amongst other events.
2) £25 Joint membership with the MBA - no longer available. Please contact MBA direct for memberships from November onwards.
Allows you all benefits of being a member of the society, with a discounted £18 membership with the MBA (usually £25!). This allows you to join their surveys - they are a fantastic way of improving identification skills, fundamental to the success of biological degree programs. The MBA also have one of the best marine biology libraries in the world and regularly host members-only seminars at their laboratories on the Hoe. When purchasing this membership, please EMAIL US as we must pass on your details to the MBA in order for the joint membership to be approved.
