Education Society Plymouth (EdSoc) is open to all Education students as well as those considering an education course following completion of their degree. We aim to provide students with activities so that they can relax and meet others in our great community. We offer exciting activities including: nights out in Plymouth, networking events, fundraising evenings and a friendly support network.
Our aim is work together to create exciting events where you can learn skills whilst on your journey to working within the education sector. We hope to provide you with skills by offering information and discounts for education courses such as Makaton, first aid and much more. We have held multiple TeachMeet events in Plymouth with local teachers attending the events to support those students and lecturers who were speaking about experiences and advice on teaching children in schools. We also have a continued relationship with the UPSU volunteering officers, offering our members opportunities that they may not find elsewhere.
This year we hope to offer students more volunteering opportunities in schools, so that trainee teachers can develop their skills and CPD for when they leave University. We are an incredibly flexible society, and respond to the wants and needs of our members.
We hold socials regularly each term, a combination of sober socials and nights out. Alongside these being great social events, they also form great networking connections with people across specialisms and education degrees. This year we are starting the year with a Hawaiian night out, giving you to opportunity to start making new connections and meet new people.
