Over the past year, the Swimming, Synchro and Waterpolo Club (UPSSWPC) has taken part in a new fixture for swimming: the British University Swimming League. Student group members updated us on what's been happening with this new fixture over the past year, including some fantastic victories!

"A new fixture for swimming this year has been the British University Swimming League (BUSL) which consists of 3 competitions against 3 other universities in the South West and finishing off with a big competition where all 4 universities come together to compete.

So far we have swam against Exeter University and the University of West England.

After a close loss against Exeter we managed a massive victory against UWE, winning 49-29, with almost all of our swimmers winning their individual races.

Although swimming is a largely individual sport the team aspect of BUSL has allowed everyone to get to know one another better and support each other as a group.

We are very excited for our upcoming matches and to hopefully continue our success.

Interested in joining Swimming, Syncho and Waterpolo (UPSSWPC)?

"Our club is all about bringing sports together, whether you are a competitive swimmer, recreational swimmer, water polo player or even a synchronised swimmer, this is the club for you. Our club takes part in many competitions throughout the academic year including BUCS, Varsity and club fun galas.

To keep up-to-date on what we are doing, as well as information on training sessions, we recommend joining our Facebook page.

We like to carry out regular socials (normally with a theme), once every week on Wednesdays. Our social secretaries work very hard to make these as fun as possible! Details of socials will be posted as events on our facebook group, so make sure you follow that to keep up to date! We also hold sober socials, as well as having a family system in the club - we think socials are the best way of getting to know everyone so make sure you come along!"
