Whether you have decided to have a winter clear out of your student accommodation and found items you brought at the start of the academic year but never use, or are finishing university and are moving out of your accommodation entirely and have items you no longer want or have purpose for, please don't dump them, donate them instead!

Don't dump, donate!

The cost of living crisis has meant that many students are struggling to afford household items, including kitchen appliances and cookware. If you have anything that you no longer use and are thinking of getting rid of, please consider bringing it into the SU and donating it as it is likely that another student at the university will be very grateful for it, and actually have a use for it!

We can accept:

  • Pots
  • Pans
  • Crockery
  • Cups/mugs
  • Glasses
  • Utensils
  • Cutlery
  • Small electrical items

If you are donating any appliances, please ensure these are in working order before you donate them.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines etc.

If you have any other items that are not included on this list that you would like donate, please get in touch with us to check first if we can accept the donation.

Please email: studentvoice@su.plymouth.ac.uk

How to donate:

Pop into the Students' Union during our winter opening times and head to The Hive, located near the South entrance of the SU, to the left as you walk inside (opposite the lift).

You can donate as much or as a little as you would like to. Whether you have a box full of items or just want to donate a few cups or cutlery; all donations are welcome!

Please read our SU opening and closing times over the winter break here.

What we will do with your donations:

We will store all donations in the Students’ Union. All the donated items will be made available for free to any University of Plymouth students on a first come, first serve basis.

Unfortunately, we are unable to reserve any items or guarantee any students specific items. All items will need to be collected from the Students' Union within opening hours, and we are unable to offer any delivery services.

Thank you for considering donating your items!
