Last year you may have noticed a few of our Freshers Tote Bags around campus and the city just about everywhere! Well, these sustainably sourced bags were designed by Sophie Phillips, a University of Plymouth student, who won our design competition last summer.

After the amazing success of these bags, we're doing it all over again, and giving another lucky, talented student the chance to create and share their amazing designs across the city this Freshers season!

So this year, your Students' Union is inviting University of Plymouth students to submit design proposals for tote bags which will be handed out to students during the Freshers 2023 period in September.

We’d like this design to reflect:

  1. the theme of Plymouth

  2. our wonderful student community

  3. our award-winning sustainability at the university

The competition is open to all current University of Plymouth students regardless of what course you are studying.

The winner will receive:

  • Their design featured on 3000 – 5000 tote bags distributed to University of Plymouth students over the 2023 Freshers period.
  • And a £50 voucher!

Specification:

The design must be:

  1. Easily visible at a maximum size of 26cm (h) x 22.5cm (w)

  2. A single colour

  3. Provided as a PDF, ideally vector format

  4. Submitted via email to design@upsu.com by Monday 31st July, 9am.

The winner will be chosen by the Communications and Digital team and will have the chance to work closely with the team to make the final design based on the winning submission, before being announced on social media. We can't wait to see what ideas you have!
