University of Plymouth Students' Union is a charity and is a very friendly work place.
We have an opportunity for a Facilities Assistant to join the team to maintain our multifunctional venue. You will work as part of our facilities team. Excellent building maintenance skills and a tradesperson qualification are important in the role. If this is you, then we would like to hear from you.
Purpose of Post:
- To ensure the UPSU buildings are maintained to the standards required on a day-to-day basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To follow the facilities management programme including preventative maintenance.
- To provide a maintenance service including building maintenance, safety checks, minor repairs, and support with cleaning provision.
- To undertake painting, minor decorating, minor electrical and odd jobs.
- To work closely with other departments in the organisation delivering an excellent service in support of their objectives.
- To inform the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manger of any breakages of furniture or fittings.
- To monitor and report on any recurrent problems.
- The role will include significant manual handling, working at height and working with tools, so will require knowledge of H&S compliance and a good approach to safe working.
- To report and log all defects reported to Estates.

Role Information:
- Permanent: 1350 hours per year (30 hours per week)
- Pay Scale: Grade 2, actual starting salary £18,662 per annum
