Design A - Victoria Fairman

"I decided to base my design Smeatons Tower because I feel it is very representative of life at Plymouth Uni and is unique to our university. The Hoe and being by the sea was for me one of the main attractions of studying in Plymouth. I think that spending time at the Hoe with friends is something all Plymouth Uni students have in common, and something we will remember fondly when looking back at our time at uni."

Design B - Harriet Mundon

"I decided to go for something a bit simple so not to over complicate the design, something which can be changed in proportion and colour scheme wise so that it is easily visible and clear to opposite teams. I believe the only option was the Plymouth hoe, this is a key part of the university's identity and everyone knows it. It's a strong structure representative of our teams resilience and full of history. The wave is showcasing that we are by the sea, we are the UK's ocean city! And we thrive with it - the tide and our sports teams are a force to be reckoned with."

Design C - Nirmal Jayakrishnan

"The wreath symbolises poised regalia, signifying confident but respectful sportmanship. It surrounds the lighthouse that not only stands as a beacon for Plymouth, but allows us to 'tower' over our competition. The striking red was chosen to instill the fighting spirit in our home team as well as inflict fear on the hearts of Exeter students."

Design D - Lolita Singh

"When it comes to the design, I wanted to focus on three things - 1) depicting a logo that expresses the determination and hard work put in by the Team Plymouth, 2) something that is unique to Plymouth city and 3) a logo in line with other University of Plymouth logos. Hence, we have Team Plymouth - a hardworking team and a force to be reckoned with, depicted by The Leviathan (sea monster) representing the strength of the team; the anchor representing Plymouth's roots to the ocean; and the red, yellow and dark blue shades of the logo are the colors from the University of Plymouth Coat of Arms."

Design E - Alangel Joseph and Natalja Lismane

"The Anchor hails to Plymouth's rich naval and maritime heritage but also symbolises the stability and solid foundation the university gives you to build from. With the red and white stripes we aimed to reference the Plymouth hoe and Smeaton's tower as its such an important landmark and brings everyone in Plymouth together whether they're a student or not, regardless of their background. Obviously as its Britain's ocean city it made sense to use blue, highlighting one of the big things that makes our city and university unique. We chose the primrose in the top left corner because it is the flower of Devon which is our location but also shows our commitment to the environment and sustainability as without us protecting our environment the flora and fauna won't thrive. The crown is a clear homage to the monarchy and what makes us British as well as the democratic manner in which we run our university and with the shield we wanted to represent resilience and strength of character as a university."
