Have a go at: Sailing, Yachting, Stand-up Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Windsurfing and Gig Rowing. No experience is necessary!

The UPSU Watersports Clubs have joined forces to give you the opportunity to try a range of amazing watersport activities, in partnership with the Mount Batten Watersports Centre. Not only will you be able to have a go at a new activity you will also be raising money for the brilliant Surfers Against Sewage. 

The event is open to students and staff. Activities available include; dinghy sailing, yachting, windsurfing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and gig rowing. Fancy trying SUP Polo? Think lacrosse mixed with stand-up paddleboarding! There will be a SUP polo tourniment taking place from 10:30am  -12pm. - There will be no SUP taster sessions during this time. 

There is no need to have any prior experience and all equipment, including wetsuits is provided. All you will need to bring is; something to wear beneath your wetsuits, a towel and some shoes that can get wet. If you are yacht sailing or gig rowing all you will need is; some shoes that can get wet and to dress according to the weather.

A 1.5 hour taster session costs £5 and you will have the opportunity to try up to four activities over the course of the day. 

Also included with every session is free return transport on the Mount Batten Ferry, a discounted Boston Tea Party drink and free entry into the SU for the Saturday club night.  Not sure how to get to the Mount Batten Ferry, our volunteers will be on hand to show you the way from the SU.

There will be food and drink available to be purchased at the Mount Batten Centre.

This one day event aims to highlight the amazing opportunities available to University students, staff and the general public. The UPSU watersports clubs will be on hand during the day to provide you with information about how to get involved on a regular basis.

Booking will be available on the day dependent on availability, it is advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Nervous about trying something new? All of our sessions are suitable for complete beginners and we are committed to ensuring everyone feels comfortable. If you would like to be assigned a buddy to accompany you to the session just let us know prior to booking.

Please be aware that some of the University of Plymouth Students’ Union events may be attended by UPSU approved photographers and videographers, for capturing content to be used in UPSU and University online and offline marketing and promotional materials, for example webpages, social media or flyers. If for whatever reason, you or a member of your group, do not wish to be photographed, please make yourself known to staff working at the event on arrival or to the photographer.
