Pop along to our volunteer led walks around Central Park and the Life Centre
We have volunteer buddies available to take you around Plymouth's best bits, and chat to you along the way. This is a great way to make some friends if you're struggling to meet people. As freshers is daunting and lonely, we wanted to help combat this!
We have capped these walks to 20 people to ensure the walks are safe and not overwhelming. If you can't sign up to one, please look on the website as we have many more throughout Freshers!
Please be aware that these tours are student led, and are not guided tours of the city. They are a chance to make some friends with others who are finding it tricky. Please look out for the buddies, who will wait on the SU roof.
They will be in their black welcome buddy t-shirts!
Below is just a sample of what Central Park and the Life Centre has to offer:
Central Park:
- Pitch and Putt
- Frisbee Golf
- Grass areas and nice walks around the park
- Clock tower café and central park hub
Life Centre:
- Free casual swim sessions for all students, timetable is on the SU website
- Access to climbing wall and court space
- Roller Disco regularly

Please be aware that some of the University of Plymouth Students’ Union events may be attended by UPSU approved photographers and videographers, for capturing content to be used in UPSU and University online and offline marketing and promotional materials,
for example webpages, social media or flyers. If for whatever reason, you or a member of your group, do not wish to be photographed, please make yourself known to staff working at the event on arrival or to the photographer.
