Candidate for the position of School of Nursing and Midwifery Representative

LUCY MURLEY

As School Rep for the last four months i have done my best to try and attend as many meetings to ensure that the student voice is heard and action is taken to improve the experience for future students. In my previous life, I was a Personal Tutor within a Further Education College. This included safeguarding, dealing with formal complaints along with general pastoral care of the students. I also completed a BA in Leadership and Management where I learnt a range of transferable skills including mentoring, communicating and conflict resolution.

I am an approachable, confident individual, who people naturally tend to come to for advice, issues and reassurance. I am able to handle myself professionally and speak confidently to a wide range of people. I can speak with tact and empathy and feel that I have a good level of emotional intelligence. I often identify an issue before it becomes a larger problem.

I would love to continue my role as School Rep and my future aims would be to ensure that each cohort has a good representation of course reps and to improve communication to all students so that it is clear who they are for each cohort. I would also like to improve the opportunities for communication with our colleagues at different sites.
