What motivated you to run for a Sabbatical Officer role and why do you think you would be a good Sabbatical Officer

I am running for the president role because of my strong commitment to fostering positive change on campus. Being a people person, my background in student ambassadorship and effective communication skills, I believe I can bridge the gap between students and administration. With my dedication to collaboration and my ability to listen to diverse perspectives I hope to contribute to creating a more inclusive and thriving campus community.

Why is the Sabbatical Officer role important?

The president position holds the responsibility of driving positive change on campus, fostering a sense of community, and working towards the overall well-being of the student population. The role is instrumental in shaping policies, advocating for student rights locally and nationally, and contributing to a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Honest, Communicative, Approachable

If you could change one thing about the University, what would that be

I’d like to streamline and catalog services such as mental health support, disability services, exam extensions and digital systems. I’d do this by creating a user-friendly online platform, integrating to the mobile app for on-the-go access, implementing a feedback mechanism for continuous improvement, and collaborating with university departments to ensure accurate representation of diverse student needs.

If you could change one thing about the Students' Union, what would it be?

Enhancing communication channels between students & SU. Implementing a more streamlined and transparent communication system, including regular updates & newsletters, would better the engagement between the union and the student. By leveraging existing technologies and collaborating with students to ensure effective and consistent communication on topics such as accommodation, cost of living & mental health. This should enhance overall experience & involvement of students in union activities.

Who do you draw most inspiration from and why?

I draw inspiration from my parents who have consistently supported and encouraged my pursuit of personal and professional goals. Their unwavering pride and support have created a foundation of who I am today, allowing me to confidently pursue what I am passionate about in life. Their belief in my abilities has been a driving force behind my endeavours , and I am grateful for their enduring support.

What is your proudest moment so far and why?

Completing my placement year at sea with multinational crews, away from home for an extended period, stands out as one of my proudest achievements. Navigating the challenges of working in diverse cultural settings and the demands of being away from home required resilience and adaptability. The experience not only enriched my professional skills but also taught me valuable life lessons about collaboration, independence, and the ability to thrive in unfamiliar environments.
