Claudia Glenister

My name is Claudia,  and I am #1 for VP Wellbeing and Diversity.

When people recommended me run for this role, I was surprised but once they explained I understood...

I have spent my past 4 years at university supporting my international and domestic friends through slum landlords, racism, substance abuse and mental health (MH) issues which I was equipped to deal with following my own personal struggles, being a mixed race woman and retaking first year following a series of substance and MH issues. Those who supported me in return mirror my upbringing in a cultural melting pot, London. My combination of empathy and experience convinces me and I hope you that I will bring about better integration and support to ALL Students of Plymouth University.

I will do this by:

-DRUG SAFETY, Harm Reductive measures acknowledging substance abuse through training, posters and support groups alongside the existing zero tolerance campaign.

- SUPPORT FOR ALL, Campaigning for a more diversified counselling and wellbeing service so that groups typically alienated by mental health support, such as men and BAME, ensuring they can access these services comfortably.

- CULTURAL SENSITIVITY AND PROTECTION, Through diversity training and events led by a combination of international and domestic students. Ensuring greater accountability for hate speech through improved processes working with the university.
