DANIEL SHEAFF

My name is Daniel Sheaff and I’m running to be your VP for Communities. This year I am studying a Master’s in Business and Management. I have previously been involved in community work in Plymouth, India and Canada; now I want to work with you to develop the University of Plymouth’s community.

These are a few of my priorities:

Student voices in the Community

  • We need voices representing us in the council and the community. I will build the student voice in these areas and create a platform for students to promote positive change in these spheres.

Real Living Wage for Student Staff

  • Students employed by the Union shouldn’t have to worry about being able to afford the basics. That’s why I will campaign for a real living wage to be paid for all student staff positions.

Community Workshops

  • I will organise workshops to help you feel confident engaging with the community. Whether you want to run in elections, research social issues or you want more general advice, these workshops will help you.

Publicity

  • Plymouth students give their time to the community, working on projects supporting conservation, care for the elderly and a range of other issues. Although you may not do this for recognition, I believe the community should be aware of your work.
  • I will use social media and meetings with community stakeholders to celebrate the work you put in.
