Strengthening Democracy.
My main effort will be improving the Student voice. UPSU operates at every level of decision making across the university, which provides the excellent opportunity to get student needs across to the university. Using suggestion walls, alongside other means, we can shape UPSU and become more effective at representing students to the university.
Banned Substances campaigns
Although UPSU runs a zero tolerance policy to drugs, we should ensure that every student can confidentially come to the SU at any time to discuss any problems they are having, at any time. To this end, I want to run a campaign throughout the year, signposting students to drug testing facilities to ensure that every student is clearly informed about their decisions.
Healthy Body Healthy Mind
Everybody is under stress at university, especially running up to exam periods. One in four of us will have mental health issues within our lives (WHO) and it is important that people who are struggling know where to go for support and I will work closely with the Welfare officer to ensure this.
Why Me?!
I am a driven, goal-orientated person with lots of leadership experience. I want to shape UPSU to be more receptive to student needs so that we provide the services YOU want and having been a governor before I believe I have the experience to deliver!
