My name is Maja Smith and I am re-running to be your UPSU Vice President Education.
I believe in a society where students are architects of their own learning
Over the past 8 months I have already ensured that:
- Graduations will remain on the hoe, and am engaging in conversations with regards to graduations in 2020.
- A free printer for the Students' Union, and will continue to advocate for transparent costs across the University.
- Review of electronic Submissions
- Co-hosting Postgraduate Networking evenings
- More Study spaces for Postgraduate Students
I will arrange a week long feedback event Speak Week to ensure feedback is received and acted upon in year, so students can begin to see real change. This means that real change can be made for the students, by the students that will aim to make an impact in the same academic year.
I will be lobbying the university to transparently advertise where student tuition fees go and our spent., Further ensuring that Hidden Course Costs will be as transparent before confirming your place on a degree.
I will be advocate and lobby for equal education for all by working in partnership with the university to ensure an easier Extenuating Circumstances process to make claiming for EC's an easier process. I will campaign for a diverse curriculum, ensuring consistence across campus.
I will continue to lobby the university to ensure that sustainability in education is a continued priority, and included in the upcoming Education Strategy.
