The Art History Society is here for anybody with an interest in art and culture, and as a place for students of all years to unite as a course. Everybody is welcome, Art History student or not!
As a society we hope to hold regular trips to galleries and museums, both local and further afield. Locally, we aim to attend exhibition openings (which means free wine, canapes, and an exclusive look before the public!) In addition to this, we hold affiliation relationships with culture centres across Plymouth: Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery, Friends of Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery, Radiant Gallery and Rumpus Cosy, Flameworks and KARST, with whom we shall work closely with).
Included with UPAHS membership is free membership to Friends of Plymouth Museum and Art Gallery, which includes one years free admission to Smeaton's Tower, Elizabethan House, Merchant's House, Mount Edgecumbe Country House and Buckland Abbey! If you are new to town and would like to do some free sightseeing with us, then come along to our trips. We are what you make of us and want to welcome everyone no matter where your interest in art lies!
We will hold fortnightly socials, where members can meet and get to know each other, which will include themed nights out, tea and cake discussions, and art history movie nights. In addition to this we aim to visit local exhibitions, and take trips to visit museums, art galleries and National Trust estates.
We are currently planning our trips for the year and social events so let us know if you have any suggestions!
