The Widening Participation Healthcare Network society is a group of medical students and Volunteers from all walks of life, that have a common goal to help under-represented groups achieve higher education in healthcare.
Our aim is to increase access to healthcare careers for students from underrepresented backgrounds by providing them with the knowledge, support, and confidence they need to succeed. We want to create a supportive community in which students can connect, learn, and grow, whether they are aspiring applicants or current healthcare students. Through our activities, we also hope to promote awareness of healthcare inequalities and raise funds for charitable causes aligned with our values.
WPHN provides members with access to a wide range of educational, supportive, and skills-based opportunities. These include academic workshops, clinical skills sessions, mentoring programmes, medical school interview preparation, and talks from healthcare professionals. All events are free of charge to ensure accessibility for everyone. However, members will have the option to support our fundraising efforts by purchasing voluntary tickets or making small donations if they wish.
This society is for EVERYONE, whether you are a WP student looking for support or would like to provide support, join us in making everyone feel welcome and happy at University!
