Members of the University of Plymouth Pole Dance Club shared with us the success of their recent Summer Showcase!

The showcase was an evening of performances showing off members, alumni, and instructors’ talents and provided the club with an opportunity to perform to friends and family, or watch inspiring routines self-choreographed by members of the club.

"On Friday 3rd of May the Pole Dance Club put on their annual Summer Showcase. But this year had a twist, instead of being held in the SU, the pole dancers took on the challenge of the bigger venue: Roland Levinsky Lecture Theatre!

There was a range of self-choreographed performances showcased, from contemporary solos and duets to sexy up-beat crowd-pleasers. The audience even got the special surprise of our recent competition winners performing their stunning group and solo pieces.

The members, alumni and instructors showed a range of abilities including beginner to advanced, some performing for the very first time! A range of costumes were worn too, including sparkles, fishnets, neons and Pleasers (very big heels) aimed to draw in those watching. All performers received glowing feedback, cheers and congratulations after the event was over.

To end the night, the club performed their famous ‘Pole Jam’, where members have an opportunity to jump on a pole and show off tricks and combos they couldn’t fit into their routines. It can only be described as organised chaos, but is always an unforgettable way to end the show.

After not performing for a long time, I feel extremely accomplished to have got on stage and performed my routine. The support from the other performers and the audience was incredible and reduced my nerves significantly. My mum even came to watch! Bring on the next one! – Charlotte, secretary.

Overall, this night of tricks and flow raised over £300 for their studio The Art of Dance in Mutley!

They would like to thank the committee members, performers, photographers, videographers, tech, security and most importantly, the audience for their support in this event.
