UPSU awarded Investors in People

 

The University of Plymouth Students’ Union (UPSU) has achieved the Investors in People Gold Standard, for going above and beyond in the way they develop, support and motivate their employees. The Investors in People Gold provides a framework that helps organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of the staff.

The Gold award followed a week-long assessment in May 2014. This assessment included independent interviews with staff at all levels and an evaluation of staff engagement strategies and the culture at UPSU. The Gold award celebrates companies that perform significantly beyond the core Investors in People Standard. The Standard provides a solid foundation for further growth and development and is awarded to well-run organisations which meet demanding set criteria, including learning and development, leadership skills and recognition and reward of employees amongst others.

The Senior Management Team is delighted that progress made, since UPSU was awarded Silver in 2011, has been formally recognised. It is a nationally recognised benchmark in UPSU’s effort to run an effective, modern organisation where staff members are engaged in its values and mission. Working with Investors in People has proven to improve financial performance, productivity and profitability. Companies that have achieved the Investors in People Standard also have higher levels of trust, co-operation and commitment.
