Students Run Plymouth Half Marathon

Plymouth half marathon

Sunday 20th May saw the return of the Britain’s Ocean City Half Marathon, an annual event that attracts many of our students each year. This year, we were delighted to see so many of our students taking part, and raising money for various charities whilst doing so. Congratulations to all of our runners; here are a few highlights:

Three members of the Swimming and Waterpolo club all competed in their first Half Marathon, David Allenby, Tiegan Phillips and Hamish Wyatt, together with their notable alumni and ex Sabbatical Officer, Matt Dark. The club raised £328 for Smile From Hatti, a charity whose purpose is to support young adults with cancer.

Mollie Donovan, Ella Wych, Ellie James, Sum Sandhu, Chelsea Lewis and Becky King from UPNC raised £800 for the English Federation of Disability Sport.

Adam Collier, Alistair Oxberry and Alumni Alex Balding of UPFC ran on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Four members of the University of Plymouth Yacht Club (Liam Richards, Louisa Briggs, Francesca Evans and Hannah Muskett) have raised over £1000 for Dartmouth Sailability.

And the Ladies Hockey Club have raised £495 for Alzheimer’s society. Which included Liberty Denman, Flora Faith-Kelly, Philippa Williams, Hannah Holloway, Ellie Miles and Livvy Potter.

Congratulations to all students and staff who took on the Half Marathon Challenge!
