On the 28th of April, members of the Psychology Society held a bake and raffle sale on the SU roof to raise money for a local charity: Dementia Friendly Parishes Around the Yealm.
The chair of the Psychology Society, Kate Parkin, has been doing a research based placement year, doing research on rural dementia friendly communities (DFCs). Throughout this year she was also able to work with "Dementia Friendly Parishes Around the Yealm" (DFPAY), a rural DFC local to Plymouth which aims to reduce isolation and stigmas around those living with dementia in rural areas. As a result, she was very passionate about raising some money for the charity."
We had a target of £100 and absolutely smashed it by raising a total of £203!! An amount that was not expected but was most certainly welcome. Thank you so much, to the rest of the committee for help make this possible and to everyone who donated. This is fantastic! - Kate Parkin (Chair of PsySoc)
"We are most grateful for your hard work and this amazing donation" - Chair of DFPAY
