The Beacon Awards are back! Designed to celebrate the best of life on campus, these awards are an opportunity to recognise all the hard work that goes on, often behind the scenes.
Nominations are now open, so you can tell us all about the people that make our University community what it is.
What Are The Beacon Awards?
Started in 2024, The Beacon Awards aim to recognise the hard work that happens across the University to make campus life a positive, impactful experience.
Whether it’s a lecturer who goes out of their way to support students, a student who makes a huge impact in your school, or an unsung hero who has been resilient in the face of significant challenge, we want to hear the positive stories you have to share.
If someone has made a real difference to your university experience, make sure to tell us about it!
What Are The Award Categories?
The award categories for this year are as follows:
- Outstanding Contribution Award
- Activity of the Year
- Staff Choice Award
- Fundraiser of the Year
- Student Representative of the Year
- Community Impact Award
- Society of the Year
- Sports Club of the Year
- Resilience Award
- Academic Staff Member of the Year
- Supervisor of the Year

By covering this range of categories, we’re hoping to take a holistic approach to the student experience and bring together people from every corner of our campus.
