The Shipping Society hosted a charity cinema night to raise money for Movember, a charity that focuses on men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. The event was open to everyone, and the movie was voted on beforehand. The movie selections were of course maritime related, to stick with the shipping society theme, and the attendants loved the screening of the Pirates of the Carribean - The Curse of the Black Pearl.

"It was the best movie night I have ever been to at this university! I had a great time" - Joe Hoult (Student)

"It was pretty fun; Jack Sparrow is hilarious!" - Isaac Vassallo (Member)

After the screening, everyone went to the Caffeine Club together for coffee, snacks and drinks. The event had attendants from multiple different societies which made it a fun and social evening with new and old friends.

"I loved doing something social, yet different and laid-back. The fact that it was for a good cause was even better!" - Anne-Therese Vea (Health & Safety officer, Shipping Society)

The evening had almost 50 attendants and resulted in over £130 raised for charity through online and cash donations.

"It was fun to see so many different people and see some new faces. I am really happy with how the evening turned out, and that we managed to raise a good amount despite being a very small society!" - Tove-Kjerstin Vea (Vice Chair, Shipping Society)

"It was fun to have a movie night as a charity event" - Vilde Teigen Førland (Member)
