About the researchers: We are Naomi Cottam (third year Trainee Clinical Psychologist) and Dr Nicholas Troop (Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology), researchers at the School of Psychology at Plymouth University.

How we will gather information: From March 2024, participants age 18-25 are being invited to complete an online survey questionnaire. This will include questions about your beliefs about climate change and topics such as how much you worry about climate change.

Confidentiality and anonymity: You will be asked what your age, gender, ethnicity and what your highest educational attainment is, but won’t be asked any information that will identify you. It will not be possible to know what you said in anything made public. The data will not be required for use in further studies. However, in accordance with the principles of open research, if the results of this study are published, it may be a journal requirement that the data collected are deposited in an open access repository – however, these would be stored in an anonymised and untraceable form and there would be no way to identify participants.

Data Protection and Information Governance: The sponsor for this study is the University of Plymouth based in the UK. We are responsible for looking after your data and the University of Plymouth will keep data for 10 years after the study has finished. Data from the questionnaires you complete will be stored securely via a password protected system held within the University of Plymouth. The only holders of the data will be the researcher, Naomi Cottam.
