The role will consist of multiple areas of focus within the SU Gym, including reception, indoor Sport playing areas and the Gym. Within these areas you will be interacting with our members and visitors, assisting with the booking system and emails, and assisting around our facilities where needed. The SU Gym is a busy sports facility catering for University sports teams, local community and casual bookings, as part of this role you will need to be punctual with the set-up and packing away for each booking, and cleaning and maintaining of equipment when required. Relevant training will be provided.

The SU Gym is an on campus sports facility that caters for all exercise needs. Our Gym offers a variety of equipment to improve Health and fitness, along with a studio for exercises classes or additional training space. We play a major role in providing a training facility for various indoor sports teams and also host their fixtures throughout the BUCS leagues. The SU Gym is a busy, action packed sports facility open to all students, staff and the public.

Sports Centre Assistant

  • Contract Start Date: 1st October 2026
  • Contract End Date: 30th June 2027
  • Pay Rate:  £12.71 per hour (National Living Wage)
  • Shift Requirements - Shifts will vary day to day - Day time, evenings till 10.15, weekends

Recruitment Timeline

  • Interviews - 29th September 2026 (to include checks for Right to Work in the UK)
  • Document On-Boarding - By 1st October 2026
  • Mandatory online training - to be completed by 1st October 2026
  • Training - Training will be provided through shadow shifts

This role is only for students who are currently studying at the University of Plymouth.
