Want to get into lifting but not sure where to start? Or already enjoy training and want to meet other lifters at the University of Plymouth? Come along to our FINAL Olympic Weightlifting Taster Session! This will be the last opportunity to come and try out lifting without needing a membership :)

Everyone is welcome, whether you've never stepped into a gym before, have some experience lifting, or are already an experienced lifter. You don't need to be strong, experienced or know how to lift beforehand — we'll be there to help you get involved and make sure you have a good time.

It will be led by one of our co-chairs: Daisy, who is a qualified Level 2 coach in Olympic Weightlifting.

We'll be heading to McCaulay's Gym, where we'll have the opportunity to train together, try out the Snatch and Clean&Jerk, and meet some of the society members. The session will be relaxed and beginner-friendly, so don't worry if you're feeling nervous about coming along on your own.

📍 Meeting point

1:30 PM – University of Plymouth Students' Union Roof

We'll meet on the SU roof at 1:30pm before walking together to McCaulay's Gym - feel free to meet us there if easier!

McCaulay's Gym
23 The Crescent
Plymouth
PL1 3AD

It's located just next to the Union Rooms, so it's only a short walk from the SU.

Come along, have a lift, meet some people and see what the Lifting Society is all about! Whether you're interested in powerlifting, bodybuilding, or just want general weight training and have fun, we'd love to see you there.

No previous experience required — just bring yourself and give it a go!
