Join us for tour regular Debate session, covering four topics that are submitted and voted for by our members using the Westminster system of proposition and opposition.

Two motions will utilize the vote with your feet movement (allowing you to switch sides as you see fit) and two motions with utilize the mace format where teams are organized prior to speaking.

Motions take the form of either THB (this house believes) or THW (this house would) and each motion takes the floor for 15-30 minutes depending on the level of engagement on each motion.

As an example, typical motions might look like these:

• THW increase the legal drinking age.
• THB fox hunting is immoral.
• THB Brexit fundamentally harmed the quality of life in the UK.
• THB Star Trek is better than Star Wars.

All University of Plymouth students are welcome, across any stage of study or subject area and spectators are welcome.

We operate a zero pressure environment where there is no requirement to speak if you do not wish to.
