Want to make great friends, learn essential self defence skills, build confidence, and get fit in the process? Join our friendly Jitsu Family!
As the oldest university club in the Jiu Jitsu Foundation, we are a very enthusiastic and friendly club that teaches the ancient art of Jiu Jitsu. This is a martial art which combines throwing, locking and striking to create an effective form of self-defence, no matter how small or new you are! Whether you are looking to learn self-defense, improve your fitness, meet new people or are simply curious - we offer free taster sessions throughout the year!
Your first 2 sessions are always FREE no matter when you join.
Our incredibly well-trained instructors and senior grades can run you through the basics and will soon bring you up to a good level. Regardless of your starting ability, you will soon be putting on wrist locks, rolling, throwing people, and much more! All classes follow a structured syllabus to ensure you progress up throughout the year. We also tailor the sessions to suit individual needs. We provide a safe environment for anyone to join us, but we also challenge you to reach your full potential!
Last year our club won the UPSU 'Outstanding Performance' award for all of our great achievements as a team!
It’s good to get to know the people you’re training with! That’s why we go for drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) after every session as well as doing some fantastic socials and events.
Each year there are two main events that we as a club attend: the Atemi and Randori Nationals. At these events, Jitsu clubs from all over the country gather to train, compete and socialise for a whole weekend. With training from some of the foundation's most experienced members and with upwards of 800 people on the mats, it is always an amazing weekend of intense training, competing (..not to mention winning) and mega partying!!
